Law enforcement officers and Wellington Fire Department were called to a wreck on Wellington’s Main Street early Wednesday, January 16. It appears that a semi-truck lost control and ran into the Los Jilberto’s Restaurant resulting in the entire building to collapse.

At the time of the incident, the owners were inside but were able to get out with assistance from the Wellington Fire Department. They were then taken to the hospital for observation but were later released with only minor injuries.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for community members to assist the family whose sole income was from the restaurant. It is not known at this time if and when the restaurant will reopen as the family is still in shock from the accident.

It seems that road conditions played a huge factor in the incident and that is why law enforcement officials urge residents to drive carefully during inclement weather.
