The Emery Spartan Girls walked into the South Sevier gym Tuesday night and walked out a few hours later with a 62-49 victory against the Rams.

Emery, who has been ranked at the top of the 3A state rankings all season have made their way through league play unscathed with five games left before tournament play begins. The Spartans had a fast start which propelled them to an early 15-5 first quarter lead, and carried them to a 27-18 half time margin. After the third quarter the Spartans led by 17 and only needed a 13 point fourth quarter to put the Rams away.

Emery was led by the Toomer twins, Kacelyn had 22 and Kinlee had 20 points along with Megan Jensen that dropped 18, in a contest that witnessed the Spartans miss only one free throw all night. Emery has had an amazing run thus far outscoring their opponents 1061-580 all the while maintaining an unbeaten record.

South Sevier was lead by senior Mattie Blackburn with 14 points and senior Kaylie Jenson added in 11 on a night which witnessed the Rams shoot 50% from the free throw line.

South Sevier (12-5, 4-3 in region) will look to bounce back on the 29th as they will travel to Mount Pleasant to take on North Sevier. At 4-3 it will be hard for them to make up ground in Region 15 to get out of third place.

The Spartans will next face the Richfield Wildcats (9-7 and 5-1 in region) at home in Castle Dale on Thursday. In Their first match up on January 3, it was all Emery in a 64-34 contest. Tip-off is set for 7 pm
