The Carbon Dinos defeated the Providence Hall Patriots 39-20 on Thursday night in Herriman. Carbon jumped out to a 10-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and held Providence Hall scoreless in the second quarter in a game that saw the Dinos hold their opponents to single digit scoring in all quarters.
The Dinos were led by Jordan Bianco 13 points, going four-of-eight from three point land and handed out five assists. Jodi Noyes added 12 points to go with five rebounds. And Abbie Saccomano dropped eight points to go with seven steals.
Providence Hall was led by senior Lllian Elliott with five points and junior Sehidi Bustillos with four.
The Patriots appeared outgunned from the begin of the game as they were only able to score five points in the entire first half. They now sit at 5-12 and 2-7 in Region 14.
The Dinos still sit atop the region at 9-0 in league play and 16-2 overall, and that’s good enough for them to sit in second place in all of state 3A schools behind only Emery with just three games left, two of which will be at the friendly confines of their home gym. Carbon is riding an 11 game win streak and have never lost in the state of Utah, their only losses coming in tournament play in Colorado.
The next game on the schedule is a home match against Maeser Prep (2-12, 0-7 in region) on Tuesday the 29th. The first meeting took place in Lindon on January 3 when Carbon came away with the 74-20 win. On that night both Jodi Noyes and Jordan Bianco went off for 18. Tip off is set for 7 pm.
