The Carbon Dinos move on to play Richfield next week after defeating the Manti Templars 58-29 in the opening round of the state playoffs Friday in Orem.
This was a competitive game early but the Dinos would pull away behind senior center’s Jodi Noyes with a double double scoring 20 point and pulling down 10 rebounds in a performance that we have gotten used to all season. Junior Abbie Saccomano added 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting grabbing two rebounds and four steals. Cora Lamborn also had six points and 6 rebounds on an afternoon where eight Dinos scored.
Manti sophomore guard Allie Bridges scored eight point on just 30% shooting she also had two rebounds. Sophomore forward Katie Larsen added 6 points and nine rebounds to go with two steals, and Breana Barson and Kassidy Alder each had five points, Carbon did not allow one Manti player to score in double figures.
Carbon now waits till Thursday when they will take on Richfield in the quarterfinals at the Sevier Valley Center at 7:30 pm in what will surely feel like a home game for the Wildcats.
