Reta Workman Duncan, loving mother and grandmother, age 92, passed away peacefully February 28, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 7, 1926 in Manila, Utah to Hillery Cornelius and Thelma Justet Workman. Reta was raised in Neola Utah on the family farm where she was her father’s right hand. After attending most of her high school years in Roosevelt she finished her high school diploma at South High in Salt Lake City.

Reta was working at the University Club for Men on North Temple in Salt Lake City, when she me the love of her life, Clell Duncan. They were married on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 1947. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.

Reta and Clell for a time lived in Sparks, Nevada and then Westwood, California where Clell worked as a telegraph operator and eventually ended up in Loa, Utah buying a mechanic and welding shop. They purchased their first home in Loa.

Loa was where all four of their children were born; Bradley Duncan, Gil Duncan, Francine Randolph and Julie Spadafora. In 1976, Reta and Clell moved to Green River Utah on a new adventure. They leased the Wilkerson Grocery Store for a couple of years and ended up spending the rest of their lives in Green River.

Reta was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in the Primary and the church’s cannery. Reta also spent many years selling Avon to the citizens of Green River. Reta was a friendly woman who loved visiting with her customers. Reta sold Avon for over 35 years and was one of the oldest Avon representatives and won many prestigious Albee awards from Avon.

Reta loved square dancing. She and Clell, danced with the Green River Melon Busters. They spent many happy years traveling and square dancing until Clell’s death.

Reta absolutely loved her children and grandchildren and time spent with them was precious to her. Clell was killed in an accident in April 2002 and Reta being a very strong woman, took over his shuttle service with the help of her son Gil. In the years since, Reta focused on her family and church work.

She will be greatly missed by all!

Reta is survived by two sons, two daughters and their spouses, Brad (Jan) Duncan, Loa, Utah, Gil Duncan, Fran (Mike) Randolph, Julie (Russell) Spadafora, all of Green River, Utah; brother, Wayne (Jackie) Workman, Roosevelt; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clell Duncan; two sisters and two brothers, Lola Coleman, Nona Ginnatasio, Keith and Bill Workman.

Funeral service, Saturday, March 9, 2019, 11:00 a.m., at the Green River Ward Chapel. Family will receive friends at the church Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to service. Interment, Elgin Cemetery, Green River, Utah.
