TAYLORSVILLE – Utah State Eastern Softball went 0-4 in their road series against the Salt Lake Community College Bruins Friday and Saturday.

After last weekend’s games against the Colorado Northwestern Spartans were canceled, the Eagles finally got back to work and lost game one to Salt Lake by a score of 12-4.

The Eagles started off the first inning with a 1-0 lead in game one but the Bruins came back to score two runs of their own and kept the lead.

The Eagles were able to score a few more runs in the fourth and sixth inning but came up short and the game would end in the bottom of the sixth.

In game two of the series the Eagles lost 10-2.

The Eagles would start the game off with two runs but unfortunately that would be the final time they would touch home plate on Friday.

The Bruins would follow with three runs in the first inning and the Eagles were able to hold them for a little but the Bruins came back to score some more and ended the game in the sixth inning.

Game three saw the Bruins defeat the Eagles 7-3.

The Eagles were the first to score once again but the Bruins came back with two runs of their own. The Eagles were able to keep the Bruins from scoring until the bottom of the fourth inning.

USU Eastern would attempt to make a comeback with the help of sophomore Jaiden Smith’s solo home run in the top of the fifth. The Eagles were unable to get more runs in and their comeback attempt would fall short.

During the final game of the series the Eagles were shutout by the Bruins 8-0.

USU Eastern had a hard time getting on the board in game four and could keep up with the Bruins.

The Eagles will now focus on the Coyotes of the College of Southern Nevada who comes to Price this Friday for a four-game series.

Friday’s doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. at the Carbon County Fairgrounds and Saturday’s first pitch will be at noon.

All four games will be broadcasted on the Scenic West Digital Network at scenicwestnetwork.com.
