Emery High School senior Megan Jensen has been named 3A girls basketball’s Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive season, leading three All-State selections for the Lady Spartans.
Jensen was a dominating force once again throughout the 2018-19 season, averaging 17.4 points and seven rebounds and two blocks per contest. Proving to be an unstoppable force down low, Jensen recorded 26 points, eight rebounds and two assists in the State Championship, helping Emery defeat Grantsville 59-31.
Senior Kacelyn Toomer logged an All-State First Team selection for the second straight season as she averaged 13.6 points, five rebounds and three steals per contest. Toomer scored a season best 23 points against Richfield on Jan. 23.
Senior Kinlee Toomer garnered an All-State First Team selection for the first time in her highly productive Emery High School career. Toomer, who earned Second Team selections in 2017 and 18, averaged 12 points along with five rebounds, three assists and three steals per outing.
Bailey Huggard rounded out the individual honors for this year’s basketball team with an honorable mention. A three year contributor for the varsity squad, Huggard averaged 4.2 points per contest, while securing four rebounds and two assists per game.
The All-State selections were voted on by all coaches in the 3A classification. The Deseret News picked Megan Jensen as the year’s MVP.
