Its that time of year again, orange cone season and Price City officials along with Utah State University are both working together to improve roads up and around the college campus.

“So, Price City and USU Eastern, specifically Greg Dart, Dave Mathis, Gary Straquadine have been instrumental in forming this partnership, between the two entities we’ve got big plans.  Probably the biggest plan this summer is to really beautify 300 East, that corridor going up to the college from 100 North to 400 North,” said Price City Council Member, Amy Knott-Jespersen. “So, we’re working with the college to put in new light poles, bury the powerlines and the new poles will have double banners on them. So, we’ll have this corridor leading up to the college of USU Eastern banners, the light poles will be blue, they’ll be modern looking, that will really be nice, really nice lighting.” This route will make it so it’s the first thing that potential students and their parents will see when visiting the local university.

Another road that is going to get some attention also has ties to USU Eastern. “So one of the roads that we are doing that I can announce right now, I can’t remember all of them, but 400 East will be paved from the college down to 100 North – so basically from the college to McDonalds area will get a new cape seal and we’re also putting in bike lanes on that road so this is in conjunction with the college’s new Blue Bike program,” said Knott-Jespersen. The city also plans to run a bike campaign to educate drivers and bicyclists on safety issues that they need to be aware of when sharing the roads.

The city is also in the process of the constructing Wayfinding signs which was highly suggested when Roger Brooks and his team visited the Price area. “This was one of those things that was high on his list of things that we needed to do. So, Price City has been working, again in partnership with USU Eastern – they’ve been absolutely fabulous to work with and so helpful and we have been working on Wayfinding signs. So, these Wayfinding signs are just these really nicely designed signs, you know they’ll be big, they’ll be easily visible and they’ll have arrows on them directing people on how to get to certain points of interest around our town,” stated Knott-Jespersen. This is still in the planning stage so it’s not known exactly the locations of where the signs will be constructed.
