Faced with a late two-run deficit, the Carbon Dinos rallied past the Delta Rabbits for an 8-6 Region 14 on the road Tuesday afternoon.

Holding a 4-0 lead entering the fifth frame, the Dinos allowed six runs, leading to a 6-4 hole going into the sixth. The team responded in the top half of the inning, plating four runs to capture the lead for good.

As a team Carbon was held to just three hits, but managed to take advantage of 12 Delta errors. Patience at the plate also proved to be a factor as the Dinos recorded six walks.

Freshman Jordan Fossat earned the win on the mound as he recorded five strikeouts, while allowing only two hits and no earned runs in a relief effort. Collin Lewis started the game, giving up six hits and five earned runs in four innings.

Lewis, Braxton Bennett and Kaleb Nelson each finished with one hit. Bennett, Nelson and Jon Zamantakis all recorded one RBI. Ty Anderson notched three walks and scored two of the team’s eight runs.

Tuesday’s road win moves Carbon to 5-0 in Region 14 play, keeping the Dinos at the top of the standings with unbeaten Juab. Union is currently third at 3-2, followed by Providence Hall at 2-2. Delta and American Leadership remain win-less at the bottom of the standings.

Carbon will return home on Friday for the second and final meeting of the season with Delta. Start time for the contest is scheduled for 3:30 p.m..
