You may have noticed construction on the West Price Bridge has slowed down this past week.  In order to perform demolition work over the railroad tracks, it is mandatory that the railroad approves and authorizes the work.  While the railroad is cooperating with the construction team and UDOT, it has taken longer than was anticipated to receive their permission.

As a result, the contractor must wait until the last hurdles are cleared.  It is anticipated approval will be granted before the end of April.  Once authorization is given, the contractor will resume all activities immediately.  We are confident the project will be completed on time.

Crews have installed a false deck under the bridge to limit the amount of falling debris from this demolition activity.

Pedestrian Safety

Pedestrians are subject to flagger instructions as are motorists! Please be aware and instruct any students, children, and adults that pedestrians need to obey the flaggers as well as drivers. Please do not proceed under the structure until the flaggers indicate.

There will be considerable flagging operations on Main Street under the bridge while crews are working. Expect up to 15 minute delays while demolition is underway through approximately May 1.

Safety Reminders

Safety is the number one priority for motorists, pedestrians, construction crews  and UDOT personnel.  Please note these precautions:

* All pedestrians must obey the flaggers and not walk under the bridge until flaggers let traffic through.

* Motorists will not be permitted on the bridge during construction.  Please follow posted detours.

* No stopping or parking under the bridge deck.

* Watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the project.

* Do not follow trucks into the construction zone.
