The Trinity Church Food Pantry is an organization in the community that is always going the extra mile to help those in need, but they are now in need of assistance from the community to replenish their pantry shelves. This is a perfect opportunity to spring clean one’s pantry to donate any non-perishable items towards the cause. Event Organizer, Heather Cloward stopped by the Castle Country Radio Stations to talk about the event and how community members can lend a helping hand.

“What it is, is a food drive for the Trinity Food Pantry. It’s a smaller organization that has been providing resources for the community for quite some time now. Just last year in 2018, the Trinity fed over 2,541 families which impacted over 6,367 people in the Carbon area, that’s roughly about 30 percent of our population,” explain Cloward. These figures also take into consideration the food boxes that are delivered once a month to the East Carbon area. The Trinity Food Pantry is a small organization that provides so much for those in need.

The pantry program is in need of all types of food items as Cloward explains, “Some of the ideal donations would be anything healthy including perishable items such as apples, oranges, milks – anything that would go into a refrigerator we would be happy to take. When it comes to our dry products, we want to stay with our whole grains, go off the USDA recommendations for our healthier eating, so we want to stay on low sugars, low sodium.” A great resource for healthy planning, cooking and eating is to visit https://extension.usu.edu/foodsense/

Individuals that wish to make a donation towards the Trinity Food Pantry can contact Cloward at (435) 630-5240 to arrange pick-up service. “For every donation, every consecutive donation they can come in when they are dropping off, they will get a raffle ticket. At the end of the food drive which will be May 31 I’m going to do a drawing and I will draw more than one and they will have a chance to win a swag bag through Food Sense or several other different items,” said Cloward. Each time an individual makes a donation it will increase their chances of winning a prize.
