The Price City Library Summer Reading Program is set to begin registration on May 1 and will run through till May 21. Parents can begin to sign up their children ages preschool to ninth grade to participate in this free summer program. Officials at the library feel it’s very important for children to maintain their reading level during their summer break.

“Once again, we’re having our Summer Reading Program, this year the theme is Universe of Stories – so it’s going to focus on space and aliens and starships and all kinds of really fun stuff. So, we are going to be doing that,” said Librarian Norma Procaroni. “Once again we will have it from preschool to fourth and then again from fourth grade to ninth. The fourth through ninth grade program will be on Thursdays at 3:00 pm and the younger children will be meeting on Tuesdays.” The two-month long program offers a craft and/or activity that is presented to the children that will tie into the week’s topic. At the time of registration, parents will receive a calendar of all the different topics, activities that are planned for the summer.

Continuing again for another year is the Kids Café. “In case you aren’t familiar with the Kids Café, we’ve had this for the last five years, it comes down from the Utah Food Bank and what we’re trying to do is give children a snack when the summer is here. It will be Monday through Thursday from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm and children must be under 18 years of age,” said Procaroni. The healthy well-balanced snacks will likely be accompanied by a small carton of milk each time.
