The Emery High Spartans dropped a conference game to the Manti Templars on Wednesday in Castle Dale 7-2. The game remained close until the very end, going extra innings when Manti put the game out of reach in the top of the eighth, scoring five runs. The Spartans stayed within striking distance all game, but let things get out of control at the end.

On the mound for the Spartans Cade Brazier went seven innings surrendering three runs on five hits and striking out seven. Handed the loss in the game, Logan Healy came in for one inning giving up four runs on three hits.

Offensively Emery was led by Brax Jensen who had two hits in four at bats while scoring one run. Kyson Stilson also had two hits. Koda Alton, Logan Healy, Rance Jensen and Riggs Griffin all added one hit each, with Griffin adding the other run.

Emery can still climb up into second place in the final Region 15 standings with a victory over Manti in the season finale on Friday on the road.

The next game for the Spartans takes place today against North Sevier in Salina. Game time is set for 3:30.
