The Carbon Lady Dinos completed the golf regular season with a first-place performance in the team’s lone home meet Thursday afternoon at the Carbon Country Club Golf Course.

Trailing Providence Hall by 32-strokes for first place in the division, the Lady Dinos made up 13 as they finished at the top of the leaderboard with a score of 370. Providence Hall ended in second with a 383, followed by Delta at 424. Union and Juab rounded out the field of five competing in the meet.

“We won the battle, but lost the war,” said head coach Kenji Otani. “It was a long shot to win region, but the girls gave it a go. Now it is all about state.”

Sam King delivered the low score of the meet for Carbon with an 86, topping teammate Jordan Bianco’s score of 89. Rhiannon Timmons shot a 95 and Aubrey Fausett recorded the team’s fourth score with a 100.

All four girls earned top ten finishes on the individual leaderboard for the complete region results. Bianco ended third, while Sam King finished fifth. Fausett earned a sixth place spot, while Rhiannon Timmons closes out in ninth.

With the regular season now complete, Carbon will shift its focus to the 3A State Championship meet on May 7 and 8 at Round Valley, the home course for the Morgan Trojans.
