The Price City Progress Committee is a group of citizens who volunteer to work together to beautify the town through various activities such as planting flowers to designing the silhouette banners that are currently hanging on the light poles around the city.

“We’re doing a lot to enhance the look of the town. We realize that’s one of those areas we can have some control over and make sure that the people who are visiting really have a good first impression of Price and want to return,” said Price City Council Member, Terry Willis. “One of the things I work on is the Price City Progress Committee and that is a citizen group and I chair that but it is run by volunteers. The mission for that is to enhance the uniqueness of Price City through beautification to enhance the wellbeing of our citizens and tourists that come through.” The committee is a hands-on working group of about ten members. One of the big projects that they completed is the silhouette banners that are currently hanging on the light poles that give residents and visitors a chance to see what activities are offered in and around Price City.

Currently, the city is working on Wayfinding signs and the Progress Committee is assisting with the decision on the locations of the signs. Willis explains further, “We really had to give a lot of thought to the best way to direct people without inundating our town with so many signs that we just look cluttered – so that process has been ongoing. We’re ready to mock up those signs and I foresee by the end of summer that we are going to have some really nice Wayfinding signs that will direct people to our parks, to our bike trails, to the museum, to the college, to the city center, to places that you know for people who are looking, who come into town can find these amenities that we have and are so proud of.”

Another project the committee has had a hand in is the revamping of 300 East from 100 North that goes up towards the USU-Eastern campus which happens to be a combined project between the university and city. “We’re starting by contacting all the landowners and the residents on that street to let them know that we are going to be doing some enhancements and one of the things that Price City is offering is we are doing free tree trimming to all of those residents along that street. We’re going to be putting in some really nice-looking light poles, replacing those old dilapidated looking silver light posts. We’ve gone with a blue that is a combination of Carbon High blue and USU Eastern blue so they’re really going to be quite a striking appearance,” explained Willis. Part of the project will be to take the electrical lines to the light poles and set them underground for a more polished and cleaner look.
