The Utah Foster Care agency will be hosting an Ask A Foster Parent Forum on Tuesday, May 14 at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at their office located at 475 West Price River Drive Suite #152. Light refreshments will be served.

“So, May is National Foster Care Month for us and so we usually try to hold an awareness event during that month and so it’s an open event anyone is able to come, it’s free. They can just come and ask questions to the foster families. We have some experienced foster parents who will be there and they can ask them questions just to kind of get a real idea of what it would be like if they decided that it would be something that would work for their family,” said Utah Foster Care Lead Consultant, Kobi Prettyman. The setting is a great opportunity for guests who have considered to foster to speak with local foster parents about the rewards and challenges of caring for children they have fostered in their homes

The forum is strictly an informational gathering for any interested families. “This doesn’t obligate or make it so where people are going to be hounded or anything to do it, it’s just really come get your questions answered and then if you want to be followed up with, we’re happy to follow up and get the process started for people,” explained Prettyman. Foster care can be a rewarding experience for all parties involved.

“If they can’t attend this event, I’m there year-round to answer those questions for them as well so they can always call me, they can always look on our website and if they do an inquiry on our website from utahfostercare.org its sends information directly to me saying, hey contact this person they are interested and then I can go ahead and give them a call,” stated Prettyman. The Utah Foster Care office in Price serves the communities in Carbon, Emery, Daggett, Duchesne, Uintah, Grand and San Juan counties. The need for foster parents in these areas is great to help, heal and enrich the lives of abused or neglected children.
