After some time waiting for special permission from the railroad contractors were finally able to get the necessary authorization to move forward with construction on the 100 North Bridge in Price.

“The contractor working on the bridge in Price has received the demolition approval from the railroad so they were back at it last week. They were actually able to make up about three days’ worth of work by working extra hours and really pushing their schedule and so we were pleased with that especially considering all the weather and things we had over the weekend,” said Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) Spokesperson, Kevin Kitchen. Crews were able to saw cut the deck over the railway and that is why there needed to be special approval given to proceed with the work. They will continue this week with saw cutting and some demolition.

Some of the work that will take place this week will be saw cutting, sandblasting and demolition. “Probably by Thursday or Friday they’ll actually start forming some of the overhangs on both sides of the bridge which is good because that means we are in actual construction rather than the demolition.  They’ll start looking at some of those ends pouring some forms and stuff to get the haunches and then the following week we are into tying rebar which can be intensive so far as time and labor is concerned but very essential,” stated Kitchen. Officials want to remind folks that the bridge is impassable to vehicles and pedestrians and all access to the structure is strictly prohibited.

As for road construction on SR 10 south of Price things seem to be moving along just fine. However, this week access into private driveways will change as Kitchen explains, “Changing the traffic control this week there south of town and that can start as early as today. They’re going to start placing the new storm drain on the east side there and so what that means is some of the access points were the vehicles cross the work zones to get to their driveways will shift their locations. So, you will need to pay attention this week as things are going to be different on the ground there.” The construction north of the UPS warehouse will have some closures such as local road 2750 South. They will always have an access road available but drivers traveling through that area will need to use caution and pay close attention to the road construction signs as they travel through that area.
