Four Carbon High School baseball players have been selected to participate in the 3A All-Star game, which will take place on Saturday June 1 in Spanish Fork.
Seniors Ty Anderson, Collin Lewis, Anthony Jones and Braxton Bennett will all represent the Dinos in the exhibition contest. The showcase allows elite outgoing seniors to compete one last time on the high school diamond.
Lewis earned the honor after leading Carbon in the majority of offensive categories. Finishing with a .346 batting average, Lewis recorded a team-high 27 hits, 17 RBIs and one home run. On the mound he finished with a record of 2-3, while gathering 27 strikeouts and a final ERA of 4.05.
A solid defender at shortstop throughout the season, Anderson ended with a fielding percentage of .820 and turned seven double plays. In the batters box he hit .292, bringing in ten runs, and a team-high eight triples.
Bennett receives the All-Star nod after finishing 2-5 with a 3.08 ERA and 27 strikeouts on the mound. While producing on the bump, Bennett also finished with a .284 batting average, including 25 hits, 11 RBIs and two doubles.
Jones delivered a stellar performance behind the plate as the team’s primary catcher during the 2019 campaign. Finishing with a 127 putouts and 17 assists, he became one of the most potent catchers in the classification. At the plate he ended with a .262 average, 16 hits, 10 RBIs and three doubles.
Carbon finished the 2019 season with a record of 11-15 overall and 6-4 in Region 14 play. The Dinos entered the state tournament as the No. 3 seed from the division. Finishing 3-2 in the 3A State Tournament, Carbon earned wins over Morgan, Emery and Judge Memorial.
