PRICE – Utah State Eastern Head Men’s Basketball Coach Adjalma Becheli announces the signing of point guard Andreus Dedner to his 2019 recruiting class.

Coming from Stamps, Arkansas, Dedner will be counted on to add depth to the backcourt next season for the Eagles.

“He will bring toughness and leadership to our backcourt. He is the type of point guard we want in our program that can score while also being a floor general and get his teammates involved,” said Coach Becheli.

Dedner says he chose to continue his basketball career with the Eagles because of the relationship he developed with Coach Becheli during the recruiting process.

“I trust Coach Becheli and I think I am a good fit with the basketball team. I couldn’t see myself going anywhere else,” said Dedner.

Dedner played his high school ball at Lafayette County  where he led his team to 2A State Semifinals in 2019.

As as senior in 2018-2019, Dedner averaged 30.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.1 steals, and 2.5 assists per game.

This upcoming season Dedner hopes he can contribute right away with his speed and scoring ability.
“I like to play at a fast pace and score. I also like to put my teammates in position to score. I want to come help the team win and bond with my teammates,” said Dedner.

At USU Eastern Dedner wants to study welding.

Dedner has two brothers and one sister and is the son of Tamika Smith.

The USU Eastern Men’s Basketball team will begin practices in October with their first regular season tournament taking place at the beginning of November.
