Let your child be a part of the 4-H Community through their Summer Programs. The local Utah State University Extension Office is looking to get youth ages 8 to 18 years old to become involved in their Summer Fun Clubs.

“We’ve got so many fun clubs for kids to join. We’ve got from alpaca clubs to fairy gardens to pet clubs to duct tape – so many fun things. We’ve got about probably 12 – tennis and livestock it just goes on and on,” said 4-H Coordinator, DeLayna Barr. Emphasizing “learning by doing,” 4-H is dedicated to the growth and development of boys and girls of all backgrounds whether they live in the city or on a farm. The primary goal of 4-H is to assist youth in developing life skills that help them live productive and satisfying lives.

Program officials are offering a great affordable summer pass for kids to become involved. “It’s $10.00 to sign up for 4-H, which last through October. So everything we have is $10.00 and that is really just covering insurance. Insurance for the kids, insurance for the leaders if anybody gets hurts. So that’s what the $10.00 is really for,” said Barr. Other fees may apply with individual clubs but the cost is very minimal mostly to cover the cost of supplies. Parents can be reassured that all leaders of the clubs have been thoroughly screened via background checks. The program is always looking for adults who may have an amazing hobby or special skill that they would like to share. Ideas are leading a 4-H club, teaching a workshop, serving on a planning committee, organizing events or contests, serving as a judge during the fair or at a 4-H competition, coaching a team or be a sponsor of a contest or event. A club leader can become a rewarding volunteer experience not only for the adult but the students; the members who excel the most in 4-H are members of clubs with well-trained club leaders.
