The City of Castle Dale is hosting a celebration on June 7 and June 8 at the Emery County Fairgrounds located at 75 South 400 East in Castle Dale. This celebration features a wide array of activities for families in the community.
“Our Castle Dale Days is a two-day event Friday and Saturday. It starts out on Friday with kids’ games at 3:00 pm. We have our very, very famous $2.00 burger and that goes from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm,” said Mayor Danny VanWagoner. “Then after that at 6:00 pm we have a Kids Rodeo where they will be chasing chickens, chasing pigs – you get to keep what you catch.” The Chicken and Pig competitions will be divided by age groups so that the children will all get an opportunity to win a chicken or pig. There will also be a Stick Horse Race for ages infant to six years of age and a Cash Cow event for ages 13 to 16 years old.
n Saturday there will be an ATV Rodeo held at 12:00 pm with two events scheduled to compete in – barrel race and barrel slalom. There is three age divisions that contestants may compete in, 12 years and under, 13 to 17 years old and 18 years and up. Prizes will be awarded to the top riders in each class/age group. “All day Saturday event we have the Mounted Thunder which is one of the fastest growing equestrian events – how can you go wrong cowboys, guns and horses. It’s all day long, it’s in the Blue Sage Indoor Arena, it’s free to the public,” said Mayor VanWagoner. Mounted contestants compete in this fast action timed event using two .45 caliber single action revolvers each loaded with five rounds of specially prepared blank ammunition. The Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association has a variety of levels of competition for everyone, ranging from novice levels to the seasoned professional. The contest is sure to entertain everyone of all ages.
Also taking place on Saturday in recognition with Special Needs Appreciation Day is a Special Little Luau. This event will take place from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Emery County Aquatic Center at 230 North 800 North and will feature a BBQ, games, prizes, swimming and snow cones.
