Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox has been making a trek across Utah this summer to various cities and towns and one of those stops was here in Carbon County on Monday, June 24.

Although the election season is still a year and a half away, Lieutenant Governor was asked how he was going to keep the momentum going from here on out, “For us this is how we keep up the momentum and that’s this crazy idea we had that we are going to visit all 248 incorporated cities and towns, takes a lot of time to do that. This week is going to be really, really busy for us, its brutal but it’s awesome. We get to work with real people. We’re doing service projects in multiple places as we travel throughout the state trying to make the state a better place, regardless of whether we win or lose.” The Lieutenant Governor and his crew helped with two service projects in our area, they put slats in the fence between Castle Heights Elementary and Cliffview Cemetery, plus painted “Buckle Up” markings on a road in Wellington. The next stop will be in Grand and San Juan counties where they will continue to meet voters and assist with various service projects.

Lieutenant Governor stressed the importance of making these visits, “We’ve got it planned out over the next year to do all of these visits, there is so much going on and so much we can do. It also is the best thing I can do as Lieutenant Governor regardless of whether I’m running or not. I visit all 29 counties just about every year that’s important to us by visiting every city I have a list of things that I need to do right now as Lieutenant Governor not a year and a half from now. So that’s another reason we’re doing this in keeping up the momentum so we can learn what needs to be done and how the state can help.” He had the opportunity to have lunch with several local city, county, and educational officials to learn what the needs are in our area.
