Brenda Jane Rasmussen, age 78, of Ferron passed away on June 26, 2019. Jane was descended from Saints and pioneer ancestors several generations back.
Jane married Lee Rasmussen also of Ferron and spent the college years in Provo. They have been married 60 years.
The family moved to Huntington Beach, California where their two young sons were raised.
Having made lifelong friends there she then moved with her family to Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshal Islands during the Cold War to support America’s space defense program.
Eventually in the late 1970’s Jane gladly returned to reside in the place of her birth in Ferron, Utah.
In all of her travels she always believed that Ferron Mountain was the prettiest place of all.
Throughout Jane’s life she has always been a generous and giving person.
At times Jane was passionate to give of herself to the elderly and to those in need.
She took her turn as a hospice volunteer.
Jane was also concerned for the well-being of animals and loved all of God’s creatures but snakes were low on the list. A highlight of her life was touring the amazing wildlife parks of southern Africa.
Those who consider her as an aunt, mother, or grandmother remember her fondly as being thoughtful, kind, supporting and caring. She cared deeply for her family and all of her friends.
She expressed her appreciation many times of having the means and the will to travel the world.
Yearly trips into Baja California with family and friends is where it all began.
Starting with the aerospace years she made semiannual trips to the Central and South Pacific and Caribbean islands with the Douglas Dive Club.
A tour of Scandinavia, of Western Canada, of Costa Rica West Coast, of the Egyptian Valley of the Kings, of England’s Cornwall and Somerset, of the Mayan Yucatan’s pyramids, of Capetown, Safari Parks, and Victoria Falls in Africa, of the Iberian Peninsula with a family wedding, of the Alaskan visit to family were all extras to be fit in.
Three decades of an annual trip to Hawaii and those years running Desolation Canyon’s rapids should not be forgotten.
Then the cruising years began and added dozens and dozens more wonderful memories. Visits to the Holy Land, the Panama Canal, The Nile River, and St. Petersburg Russia were a very few of her favorites.
