The Pleasant Valley Days committee invites everyone up to Scofield for their annual celebration on Friday, July 5 and Saturday, July 6. This celebration has become a family tradition for decades with events and activities for all ages.
“The park will be open at noon the vendors will be setting up before that, so you can come and look at the vendor booths anytime after noon. We are going to have at 3:00 pm the Little Miss Pleasant Valley Days Pageant going on – registration will be at 2:00 pm. At 5:30 pm we’re going to be serving dinner from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm – this year we are going to have pulled pork sandwiches, which is a change from previous years but we are excited and that will be wonderful,” said Scofield City Representative, Andrea Barney. The cost for the dinner will be $10.00 for regular portion and $5.00 for small portion. The Beer Garden will be open from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Guests can enjoy music by DJ John J Harris while visiting the park.
On Saturday morning, plan on attending the famous breakfast in the park at 8:00 am till 10:30 am. The hearty meal will feature pancakes, bacon, eggs, hash browns, coffee or orange juice, with a cost of $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under the age of 12. Cash, credit cards and checks will be accepted.
Participants in the parade will need to be lined up at Church Street by 10:00 am for registration and judging. The parade will start at 11:00 am.
“Then from noon to 5:00 pm we’re going to have our DJ going, vendors, silent auction, beer garden, and kids’ activities in the park. We also have a horseshoe tournament going and the Old Mine Disaster Exhibit in our historic school house – so there is something for everybody,” said Brady. The winners of the silent auction will be announced at 5:00 pm in the pavilion. A dance will be held at 8:00 pm till midnight featuring music by Rusty Fenders who genre is classic rock and blues.
The two-day festivities will close out with a wonderful firework display over the lake at 10:00 pm. Guests are invited to watch from the park while listening to live music or they may find a safe place around the lake to enjoy the show.
