The Lunatic Triathlon makes it’s way to the streets of Helper the evening of August 9. The course will be a little shorter than the one in Price but the level of fun will be the same.
The brain child of Scott Merrell, who was looking for a triathlon that was closer to home and didn’t cost as much, the Lunatic is now enjoying it’s 10th year and second in Helper.
The typical triathlon consists of a swimming, biking and running, the Lunatic in Helper will also include something for those that are looking for something a little more extreme.
“We are offering the Lunaticus Maximus and that’s our extreme course,” said Merrell. “They will start off and run for a mile, they will get in their kayak and go down the river for a mile, get out and have another mile run and then finish with a five to six mile bike ride.”
They also offer a kids triathlon that will take place starting at 8 p.m.. There is no cost for the kids triathlon thanks in part to C & D’s Custom Tees.
The adult event will begin at 9 p.m..
