The Carbon County Senior Center is preparing for one of their biggest fundraising events coming up in September and the community is invited to participate in what will involve pie-throwing at Carbon County officials.
“So, on September 25 at 1:00 pm we have our annual Pie In The Face fundraiser and what it is you’re able to vote for who you want to see pied,” said Director Robbie Jensen. “We have a list of people that are going to be willing to be pied myself and Floyd Brown who works at the Senior Center, as well as Sheriff Wood and all three of the commissioners, so Casey Hopes, Tony Martines, Larry Jensen have all agreed to be pied as well.” The event will take place at the Carbon County Senior Center at 40 South Fairgrounds Road in Price.
All of the proceeds from the Pie In The Face fundraiser go towards the center’s special projects/activities that they conduct throughout the year. “It’s a $1.00 per vote or six votes for $5.00 and we draw names out and whoever has the most votes gets the pies thrown at them first and it works it’s way down,” explained Jensen. For $20.00 folks can pie whomever they wish instead of having to place votes.
Another great event that will be held in September will require seniors to dust off those dancing shoes as Jensen explains details about the dance, “It’s going to be September 7 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, saying $5.00 a person to get in and we’ll have live entertainment and some snacks. So it’s always a lot of fun to kind of let your hair down and see some of the staff let go a little bit.” This year’s band is sure to play appealing dance music for everyone to enjoy and the proceeds will again go towards the center’s special projects/activities.
All of the monthly events can be found in the Carbon County Senior Center’s free newsletter that is readily available at the center or by calling (435) 636-3202.
