Mark your calendars for Ferron City’s Peach Days celebration taking place on September 3 through September 7. This annual event is sure to have activities that will appeal to the entire community near and far.

The festivities start off on September 3 at 7:00 pm with a Fun Run Fundraiser for San Rafael Middle School Cross Country Team. “We have some local citizens who are runners in our community and they are concerned about the running shoes that the school kids have to run in so they have organized a 5K and they will take the proceeds and donate that to the kids to buy good running shoes,” said Mayor Adele Justice. The cost to participate in the run is a $20.00 donation and the race will start at Ferron Elementary near the library.

On September 4, exhibits will begin to be accepted at 10:00 am at City Hall till 6:30 pm. A bike ride is scheduled for that evening at 6:00 pm at the Mayor’s Park. After dinner there will be a firework display held at the fairgrounds for everyone to enjoy.

Saturday morning kicks off at 7:00 am with the Field of Flags. “The Field of Flags is one of our most loved events of Peach Days. We started it shortly after 9/11 and we just pulled together as many flags as we could from other communities to put in our park, we started with about 300 flags. Then the next year we actually went out and purchased with some donations from citizens and with city funds, purchased enough flags that we have a field of over 400 American flags,” explained Mayor Justice. This beautiful display can be found at the Church Park on 100 North and Mill Road.

There will be a fundraiser breakfast at 7:30 am at the Fire Station, followed by the parade at 10:00 am. Following the parade there will be several activities held at the Mayor’s Park for the entire family to enjoy like food and merchant vendors, a corn hole tournament and soap box derby.
