Our dear son, brother, uncle and friend, Kirt Russell Jones, passed peacefully from this world to the next on August 25, 2019 at the age of 62 at his home in Orangeville.

Kirt was born October 22, 1956 in Price, Utah to Dick and Annalee Jones.

Kirt was blessed with a brilliant mind and could without a doubt have excelled at any occupation that he chose, but his choice was to live in Emery County and so he became a coal miner. Kirt started working in the coal industry just a few months after graduating from Emery High School at the tender age of eighteen. He worked at the Deer Creek Mine for 37 years as a member of the United Mine Workers Union until the time of his retirement just a few short years ago. Kirt had an adventurous spirit and had many hobbies including hunting, hiking, fishing, riding his 4-wheeler, traveling, photography, computer technology, and to every ones surprise especially his parents, farming. After Kirt retired he spent many long days working hard to help his dad out on his farm, he became his dad’s right hand man. Although Kirt had a gruff exterior on the outside he had a heart of gold on the inside. Kirt was generous almost to a fault, he was very free hearted with what he had and truly would give anyone the shirt off his back if he thought that they needed it. He was a v ery good friend to many. In every sense of the word, he was his brother’s keeper.

Kirt leaves behind his heart broken parents Dick and Annalee Jones of Orangeville; brother, Kim (Sue) Jones, Orangeville; sisters, Dickcie (Mark) Tuttle, Orangeville, Vicki (Jeff) Biggar, Pleasant Grove; 11 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews; his very best buddy for 27 years his cat, Buttnut.

Preceded in death by his grandparents, Russell and Leah Justesen and Wallace R and Olivia Lilly Jones; nephew, Jason Kim Jones; very dear friend, Ron Hobby whom he mourned every single day since his passing one year ago.
