The Division of Wildlife Resources is always hosting various clinics to the community to either introduce or familiarize them with an outdoor activity. The DWR is excited to host a Fly Fishing Clinic on Saturday, September 28 at 8:30 am at the Division’s Southeast Regional Office on 310 North Carbonville Road in Price.
“We are going to be hosting a fly fishing workshop, this is fly fishing 101 for anyone who’s interested in learning how to fly fish. It’s free, you just have to show up to the division’s office in Price,” said Conservation Outreach Manager, Aaron Bott. Whether this is an introduction to a new activity or just brushing up on the basic practices this is a wonderful opportunity for attendees to gain insight in the art of fly fishing.
The morning will start off with classroom instruction and presentations. “We’re going to go over some quick techniques, we’re going to talk to some local experts about the best fishing holes in the area, then we’ll spend some time out at the Carbon County Pond and practice our fly casting,” explained Bott. Participants who own fly fishing reels and rods are encouraged to bring their personal gear, however, fishing equipment will be available for those who need it. To participate in fishing, individuals 12 years and older must have a current Utah Fishing License. Licenses can be purchased online at https://wildlife.utah.gov/
Organizers ask that any individuals that are interested in attending the Fly Fishing Clinic please register online at https://www.eventbrite.com/ or call (435) 613-3707.
