The Lady Panthers took the long bus ride to Montezuma Creek to face the Whitehorse Raiders Tuesday night. The outcome was not what they expected losing in straight sets.
Whitehorse (4-5 overall, 1-2 in region and #13 RPI) took the first set 25-14, they would go on to take sets two and three by the scores of 25-12 and 28-21. Pinnacle (3-13, 0-3 and #18 RPI) have struggled lately losing their last six matches heading into the last month of the season. They have three matches coming up against teams in the top 15 of the 1A RPI standings.
The state tournament will begin on October 26 with the first round being played at home sites, and will conclude on November 2 at Utah Valley University.
But before they can think about that they will travel to Escalante (5-4, 3-4 and #12 RPI) on Thursday. The two squads faced off on September 12 with Pinnacle falling in straight sets 3-0.
The Lady Panthers will be home again on October 15 for the final match of the season, taking on Whitehorse. The match is set to begin at 6:15.
