The Emery Lady Spartans closed out the 2019 regular season with an impressive 3-2 victory over the Carbon Lady Dinos Thursday afternoon in Castle Dale on Senior Night.

Needing a win over the Region 12 champion Lady Dinos to solidify second place in the division, Emery played a near flawless first half. While Carbon continued to press, the Emery defense did just enough to hold on.

Nya Parkins delivered two goals for the Lady Spartans, while Aspen Hansen found the back of the net once.

Playing from behind throughout the second half, Carbon’s Ryan Brady and Katie Marshall each scored one goal. The loss for Carbon was the team’s first since the season opener back on Aug. 7.

With the region season now complete both Carbon and Emery will prepare for the upcoming State Championship Tournament. The Lady Dinos end at the top of the Region 12 standings with a 9-1 divisional record, while Emery finishes second at 8-2.

All teams in the 3A classification will wrap up the regular season next week as some will play outside of their region. The final RPI rankings and seeding for the upcoming 3A State Championship Tournament will be released on Friday, Oct. 11.
