Ten Carbon High School senior student-athletes have been recognized for their excellence in the classroom during the 2019 fall season with a selection to the Academic All-State team in their respective sport by the Utah High School Activities Association and the Deseret News.

From the Carbon Golf team Kaden Slavensky and Nicholas Olson were listed among 10 players in 3A for academic excellence in the sport. Slavensky and Olson were key to Carbon’s third place finish this golf season.

Grace Broadbear was Carbon’s only representative from the Cross Country girls squad. She also qualified for Soccer along with Katelynn Vasquez, the girls team made it to the Quarterfinals of the State Championship tournament, falling to Juab last Saturday 2-1.

Abbie Saccomanno and Victoria Nelson were two of the 14 members of the 3A Volleyball to receive an All-State nod. The team will head to the State Playoffs this weekend.

Boys Cross Country was the largest group for Carbon with three runners being named to the list. James Bryner, Kade Allen and Michael Banasky listed among 17 other athletes from the 3A ranks.

In football Ridic Migliori was the sole member of the Dino squad. Migliori played on both sides of the ball for Carbon this season, which unfortunately ended with them on the outside looking in at playoff time.

For over 25 years the UHSAA has presented the Academic All-State Award to recognize those students who have excelled in the classroom as well as in athletic competition. Individuals are selected for this award on the basis of their athletic ability and academic proficiency.
