Our loving mom, sister, grandma, and great-grandma, Peggy Sharlene Haycock Marshall, age 86, passed away on October 28, 2019 in Helper, Utah, holding the hands of loved ones.

Peggy was born in a tent on August 1, 1933 in Spring Glen, Utah to Elvin and Maude Hammond Haycock. She was the oldest of five children.

Peggy married the love of her life Robert (Bob) Marshall on July 3, 1950 in Carbonville, Utah. They made their home in Helper, where they were the proud owners of the “Handy Mart,” which Peggy managed for many years. They raised five children, Jay, Cookie, Billy-Jean, Terry, and Tonya. They also opened their home and hearts to numerous foster children. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she could never have enough visits from her loved ones. She especially loved the babies and never tired of holding them.

She loved trips to Wendover with her parents, siblings, special aunt Dorothy, and later in life with her children and grandchildren. She would save all her money to go, even waiting to cash her retirement checks at the casino. The penny machines were her favorite.

Many of us will remember and cherish the special times with her in the kitchen or enjoying a meal from her. Some family favorites include, pork noodles, Thanksgiving dinner, pistachio dessert, cheesecake, and divinity. Everyone knew when you went to grandma’s she was going to feed you, hungry or not! Peggy was an amazing homemaker, from her cooking to her great stain removing skills.

Although Peggy was thrown many hard trials in her life, such as losing her leg. She never let them hold her back. Peggy was one tough lady. She loved fiercely, but was always sure to tell us what she thought, no matter what. One important thing to her was honesty and it is something she instilled in all her family.

Peggy also passed along a very strong love for sweets. She would have a carmel or Milky Way over anything else.

Survived by her sons, Jay Marshall, Price, Terry (Marla) Marshall, Grantsville; daughter, Tonya (Scott) Turner, Helper; sisters, Beulah Picco, Helper, Faye (Don) Landavazo, Price; brother, Richard Haycock, Kenilworth; 23 grandkids, 46 great-grandkids, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
