Herriman, UT – The Utah State University Eastern women’s soccer team played hard through the 90th minute of, what would turn out to be their last match of the season. The Eagles fell to the #1 seed, Salt Lake Community College Bruins, 5-2 at Zion’s Bank Stadium on Friday, November 1.

SLCC got out to an early lead in the first half, scoring a goal inside the 10th minute of play. The Bruins extended their lead prior to half time with another goal. Trailing 2-0, The Lady Eagles went into halftime and “regrouped and recommitted to our plan offensively” said Head Coach Ammon Bennett.

Ashley Brindley got the offense going out of the half for USU Eastern.  She tallied her 12th goal of the season to make the score 2-1 in favor of the Bruins. The Bruins scored 3 more goals before The Eagles scored again; this time it came from Morgan Cragun.

Bennett complimented the sophomores of this year’s team for battling through injuries, playing different positions when needed, and playing hard till the final whistle of the 90th minute. Bennett is looking forward to the upcoming recruiting class and the returning first year players that will make up the 2020 USU Eastern women’s soccer team.
