The General Election was held on Tuesday, November 5 and many voters took to their mail-in ballots this year with very few visiting the polls. The Carbon County Clerk’s office has released the unofficial municipal general election results thus far.

The East Carbon Mayoral race was a close race with David F. Avery coming in on top with 52.62 percent of the votes, while Barbara J. Robinett brought in 47.38 percent.

East Carbon City Council had three seats up for grabs with Charles Abeyta bringing in 20.88 percent, followed by Jason Jorgensen with 16.63 percent and Liz Ferguson was left close behind with 16.40 percent of the vote. The remaining candidates are as follows Bob Martinez with 16.17 percent, Jesse C. Stewart 16.02 percent, and Karla C. Young with 13.90 percent.

Helper City Council had three vacant seats, top candidate Gary Harwood brought in 24.02 percent, followed by Michelle Goldsmith with 23.53 percent and Amanda Wheeler with 20.18 percent. The remaining candidates are as follows David Dornan 19.93 percent, Nathan Behn with 6.37 percent and Jason L. Riffe with 5.96 percent.

Price City Council also had three seats with 22.82 percent of the votes going to Layne Miller, followed by Rick Davis with 19.74 percent and Boyd Marsing coming in with 18.40 percent. The remaining candidates are as follows Terri Tubbs had 14.80 percent, Andy Urbanik had 13.03 percent and Jared Chiara had 11.21 percent.

Wellington City Council had three vacant seats available for a four-year term. The three candidates brought in the following votes, Glen Wells 36.72 percent, Paula Noyes with 32.75 percent and Bethany Perea with 30.52 percent.

Wellington City Council also had two seats available for a two-year term. Topping off the list was Derk Bradley with 27.48 percent, Rory Bradley with 26.73 percent, Kory K. Moosman with 23.18 percent and Gary Rich with 22.62 percent of the votes.

The Carbon County School District Bond Election received 53.40 percent in favor of the bond with 46.60 percent against.

The Carbon County Clerk’s office must have the official count of votes completed by November 12.
