The Emery High School swim once again dominated the competition in the second meet of the season Tuesday afternoon at the Emery County Aquatic Center in Castle Dale.
Gathering 366 points, the boys team easily topped second place Gunnison, who ended with a 163. Rowland Hall finished third with 150, followed by North Sevier in fourth with 21.
The Emery Lady Spartans also delivered a dynamic performance as they gathered 381 points. Rowland Hall finished second with 310 points, followed by Gunnison’s 71.
Elias Morris claimed not one, but two first place individual finishes for the Spartans, winning both the 50 yard free and the 100 yard backstroke. Elias finished the 50 yard free with a time of 26.32 and the 100 yard backstroke in 1:09.04.
Mathew Hanson earned first place in the 500 yard free with an ending time of 6:39.42. Hanson also joined Dax Minchey, Jace Jorgensen and Asher Beagly as the group earned first place in the 200 yard medley relay. Hanson, Jorgensen, Beagly and McCoy Allinson also took first in the 400 yard free relay.
Allinson, Brennan Durrant, Taylor Durrant and Jacob Fauver cruised to first place in the 200 yard free relay. The group finished with a time of 1:53.99, topping second place Gunnison by almost two full seconds.
Haley Guymon led the Lady Spartans with two first place finishes. Taking home first place in the 50 yard free, Guymon finished with a time of 27.78. She later won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.94.
Abby Johansen earned first place in the 100 yard free, finishing in 1:07.57. The fourth individual first place nod went to Kaelee Hooley and her time of 6:27.05 in the 500 yard free.
Guymon, Johansen, Hooley and Megan Hess finished first in the 200 yard medley relay, easily defeating Rowland Hall by 13 seconds after finishing in 2:10.14.
