Pete Palacios, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on November 18, 2019 due to injuries sustained in a fall. He was born April 20, 1927 in Sego, Utah to Gumercindo and Marie Palacios.

Pete spent his childhood in Sego and was involved in many adventures with his brothers and sisters. He started work at the Chesterfield Coal Company at the age of 11 as a boney picker. In 1943 he started work at Standard Coal Company in Standardville, Utah. With a need to serve his country he joined the Marine Corp at 17. The love of his life, Charlene Gonzales, took a bus trip to Virginia to marry Pete before he shipped off to the war in the South Pacific. After an honorable discharge he returned home to his wife and work in the coal mines of Spring Canyon. Together they raised four children in Helper, Utah. They provided a great home full of love for their children and anyone who came in.

Pete was an incredible man whose wisdom and love was endless. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of guns and reloading with anyone that asked. He was a great resource for anyone with the same interest. He made many friends with that knowledge and shared it even more when he opened Wholesale Shooter Supply. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting with his family and friends.

During the trials that families can have he guided us through with strength and commitment. He will be sorely missed by his family and all who knew him. We wish to thank the emergency responders, the ER staff of Castleview and the wonderful and caring staff at Utah Valley Medical Center who made sure he did not have any pain and made certain he passed with the dignity he deserved.

He is preceded in death by his wife Charlene; his son Anthony (Totes); his parents; his sisters, Margaret, Ruby and Emma; and his brothers, Joseph, John and Manual.

He is survived by his daughter, Madalyn, Wellington; sons, Pete Jr. (Rebecca), Boise, Idaho and David, Helper; brother, Robert (Anita), Helper; sister, Pauline (Gilbert) Sanchez, Salem, Utah; grandchildren and great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
