The Emery Lady Spartans completed a brutal three-game in three-day stretch unscathed with a 51-40 victory over the Morgan Trojans Thursday evening at the Spartan Center in Castle Dale.
Sophomore Baylee Jacobson scored a game-high 15 points off of the bench to lead the Lady Spartans to its third consecutive victory. The win gives Emery victories over Union, Beaver and Morgan in three consecutive nights.
A solid first quarter performance gave Emery a comfortable 18-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. Extending the advantage by five, the Lady Spartans carried a 30-18 spread into the break.
Despite being held scoreless for the first four minutes of the fourth quarter, Emery weathered a late Morgan run. Several timely free throws and defensive stops preserved the win.
Sophomore Tambrie Tuttle contributed 12 points and eight rebounds for Emery. Kiri Cook chipped in with 12 points, eight of which came in the opening quarter. Hailey Allred and Tayden Nielsen both finished with five.
Now 3-1 overall on the season, the Lady Spartans will take the rest of the weekend off before returning to the court on Tuesday, Dec. 10 with a road contest against Springville.
