The Pinnacle Panther basketball squad faced the Diamond Ranch Diamondbacks on Monday in Price. The Panthers needed overtime but came away with the 60-56 victory.
Diamond Ranch is a team from Hurricane that the Panthers are familiar with , these two teams faced off in the first game of the season last year with the Diamondbacks coming away with a 76-51 win.
This time around Pinnacle would come out swinging early holding a 27-22 lead at the half and outscoring their opponent 15-13 in the third quarter. Diamond Ranch would use a 18-11 run in the fourth to push it to overtime where the Panthers would hold them to just three points.
Senior Jordan Thomas would lead the team with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting to go with his team high 13 rebounds. Benjamin Scott would rack up 10 points with nine rebounds, two assists and one steal. Landen Hardy had nine points, eight rebounds and one steal and Christian Winder collected nine points as well.
Up next for the Panthers is The Pinnacle Winter Classic, five schools, 17 teams and 26 games to be played over two days. First up is the Dugway Mustangs at 1:30 on Friday, December 13 in the new gym on the campus of Pinnacle Academy.
