The Green River Boys basketball team made the trip to Monticello on Thursday to take on the Buckaroos. The Pirates stayed close in the first quarter but, Monticello used a 21-10 run in the second quarter to put the game out of reach winning 55-35.

Coming out in the first quarter Green River was only down by one 11-10. The Buckaroos then came out in the second quarter and pushed their lead to 12 at halftime and never looked back, only allowing six points from the Pirates in the third.

Green River was led by Axel Anguiano with 10 points in this game. Sam Corrigan added eight and Rad Hughes dropped in seven as the Pirates now sit at 3-2 on a very young season.

Next up for Green River is the 1A preview, a tournament that takes place in Richfield on Friday and Saturday at Richfield High School and the Sevier Valley Center.
