The Emery High School swim season reached its midpoint as the Spartans played host to Richfield, North Sevier and Wasatch Academy Friday afternoon at the Emery County Aquatic Center in Castle Dale.

Despite three first-place finishes the Lady Spartans fell four points short of the Richfield Wildcats, 389-385, for first place overall. North Sevier ended in a very distant third with 13 points.

Richfield’s stellar performance carried over to the boy’s side of the pool where they tallied 438 points, easily topping Emery’s 348. Wasatch Academy in third with 75 points.

Haley Guymon earned two first-place finishes winning both the 200 yard IM and the 100 yard backstroke for the Lady Spartans. The third top finish came from Kaelee Hooley who topped teammate Danielle Simmons in the 50 yard free.

Elias Morris earned the top spot in the 100 yard backstroke, topping teammate Jace Jorgensen by just over three seconds. Asher Beagley also ended first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.17.

The Spartans will return to the pool on Thursday as they welcome in North Sanpete and Payson to the Aquatic Center. Thursday’s meet will be the last before the Christmas Break, giving the team a lengthy pause before competing on Jan. 7.
