Maurine Waterman Craig, beloved wife and mother, on December 12, 2019 departed this mortal life, in the loving arms of her daughter. Maurine was born on January 5, 1929 in Price, UT to Cecil and Blanche Grange Waterman. She married the love of her life, William “Bill” Craig of Price, UT; on June 25, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married 63 years, living and raising their children in Price, Utah.
Maurine’s greatest love in life was her family. Like her mother Blanche, she was always seeking to learn and improve herself through her education. She received her doctorate (ED.S.) in administration and supervision from BYU. She was an outstanding educator for over 30 years. She taught kindergarten, fourth grade, special education and was a counselor. She was honored with many awards during her career including “Teacher of the Year”.
Maurine enjoyed traveling the world with Bill. They frequently included their kids and grandchildren on trips throughout the years. She had a love of music and a beautiful voice. She would accompany Bill regularly as he performed and inspired a love throughout her family for the musical arts. She had an eye for beauty and it could be seen in her home décor and her hobbies including, crocheting, scrapbooking and crafting. She was always active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a strong and unwavering testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ. She left a legacy of love, learning, music, laughter and card playing.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband William “Bill” Craig and by her sisters; Florine Waterman, Enid Bean, Jean Madsen and grandchildren Christopher and Christina DeFriez, Breann Craig and Austin Atwood. She will be greatly missed by her children, Diana and Roger DeFriez of Bountiful, UT; Joan and Barry Atwood of Price, UT; Janet and Lyon Hazleton of Monticello, UT; William John and Shelly Craig of San Antonio, TX; Franceen and Francis Jones North Ogden, UT; David Bruce and Susan Craig Lehi, UT. Her sister Elaine Burgener and Maurine’s 29 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday December 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Price 4th/ 5th Ward Building, 545 E 400 N. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Mitchell’s Mortuary, 233 E. Main St. and Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church prior to the services.
