The Carbon Dinos swimming team welcomed squads from Union, Uintah and Altamont to the Desert Wave Pool on Wednesday. The Lady Dinos used five first place finishes to claim first place overall while the men’s side used two first place spots to take third.
The girls team edged out Uintah 112-111, while Union finished with 43 points and Altamont ended with five. For the boys Union claimed first with 100 points and Union had 90 points. Carbon scored 68 and Altamont rounded out the field with 14.
The Carbon girls were dominant in competition. The 200 yard medley relay team of Nicole Swasey, Tyrca Jaramillo, Sofia Crompton and Kacee Barrett finished in first place with a time of 2:06.93. Barrett also had a first place finish in the 100 yard free with a time of 1:01.56, Emily Jespersen finished in second (1:06.68) and Haylie Powell in third (1:07.01). In the 50 yard free Kacee clocked a 28.28 while Sofia Crompton finished second with a time of 28.53 and Thalyn Lyman took third (28.95).
Tyrca Jaramillo would earn a first place finish in the 100 yard breast stroke at 1:20.29. And the team of Jaramillo, Haylie Powell, Crompton and Barrett would once again claim first place in the 200 yard free relay with a time of 1:55.62.
On the boys side Matthew Torres would receive a first place finish in the 100 yard fly with a time of 1:04.84 and Gabe Ibanez would finish in second with a time of 1:08.06. Ibanez also took first place in the 100 yard backstroke, finishing in 1:10.26.
The Dinos will now take a well deserved break. They will welcome Gunnison and Millard to Price on January 7.
