Mark Wilfred Stoddard was born on June 3, 1979 to Wilfred and Patsy Terry Stoddard in Murray, Utah. He attended Huntington Elementary, Canyon View Junior High and Emery High where he graduated in 1997. He played football and was a wrestler. He played baseball as a youth, but he found his greatest love in the great outdoors. He enjoyed skateboarding and snowboarding. He could be found hiking and camping in Huntington Canyon. He loved Huntington Canyon where he spent the first 12 years of his life before moving with his family to Huntington. Mark was an avid shed horn hunter and finding a horn was great fun to him. He could hike like a billy goat and he left many people in the dust over the years.

Mark was a sprinkler technician and helped start Stoddard Sprinkler and Landscaping. He loved working for area farmers and his neighbors, Scott Miller and Bruce Myerhoff. His most recent employment was traveling with A and I Flooring installing floors in Walmarts. He worked on the Price Walmart, Blackfoot, Idaho and Walmarts in Arizona. Mark was a hard worker, his favorite job, however, was horn hunting. He found and sold thousands of elk and deer horns over the years.

Mark loved black powder and target shooting, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved shooting videos of the animals. He loved this more than hunting. One of his funnest hunting experiences was taking an antelope on the San Rafael desert with his bow. His dad was the tour guide and drove him around for miles before Mark found just the right one.

Mark was blessed with many friends. Everyone loved Mark. He could make you laugh and he had the funniest sayings. Damn yea. He traveled to Alaska with his Dad, Uncles and brother Matt where they spent a glorious week fishing in the ocean. Mark loved children and they loved him. He was kind, patient and loving. He taught many a child to shoot a bow.

Mark had the biggest heart. He was his brother’s keeper. He helped neighbors with their roofs, he shoveled snow, he fed horses, he fixed fences, he gave rides to strangers who were out of gas or their vehicle was broken down. He gave money to the homeless, he gave money to the children begging on the streets in Mexico. He would give his last dollar to a stranger. His love of others was deep and abiding. If you were lucky enough to have Mark Stoddard as a friend, you had a life-long buddy. Mark loved animals, he had dogs and horses and put up with his mother’s cats and turtles.

He is survived by his parents, brothers, Nick, Matt (Heidi), Joe (Chantel), Luke (Brandee); sisters, Jennifer (Tony), Stephanie (Brett), Lori (Joe); nephews, Drake, Shade, Eldrick and Porter Stoddard, Gage Owen, Kyle, Kade and Cole Perez; nieces, Brinlee Stoddard, Breanna Brown, Tailor and Riley Owen; plus countless cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Mark was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents Leonilla and Farrell Terry and Dean and Olea Stoddard.

Mark passed away on Dec. 21, 2019. His funeral services will be held on Dec. 28 at the Huntington First Ward chapel on 115 South 400 East.
