The Carbon and Emery County USU-Extension Offices will be offering a ten class Master Gardener Program beginning on January 23 till April 2. The Thursday evening classes will be held from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and will alternate between the offices in Carbon and Emery Counties
“So this is year two of a two year program, so there’s ten courses per year. This year we’re going to be getting kind of the nitty gritty, so this is year two it’s a little bit higher level but if you have a little bit of experience, I think you can catch up pretty easy,” said Agriculture Assistant Professor, Steve Price. If an individual has never tried gardening, they may want to wait to take the course next year for the first-year instruction of the two-year program.
“Some of the topics that we have doing this year we’re going to be talking tree fruit production, small fruits, vegetables, pruning, turf grass care, flowers, ornamentals, trees and shrubs and we’ll have a couple of other topics there as well,” explained Price. USU Master Gardeners are a network of trained volunteers who can provide the community with unbiased, research-based horticultural education and technical assistance in gardening and home horticulture.
The cost to participate is $50.00 for one year, $80.00 for two years. The registration fee will include Utah Master Gardener Manual, handouts and refreshments.
