The Emery Lady Spartans increased their latest winning streak to three after defeating the 4A Uintah Utes 59-36 Saturday night on the road.

Playing for the first time since Dec. 21, Emery managed to overcome a six-point second quarter deficit to earn the blowout victory. Now 7-4 overall, the Lady Spartans remain No. 6 in the latest UHSAA RPI rankings.

Sophomore Tambrie Tuttle posted a game-high 14 points, including two makes from the three-point line. Both Kiri Cook and Baylee Jacobson scored 12 points, while Hailey Allred finished with eight. A total of nine players scored at least two points for Emery.

Kenna Gardiner scored a team best 13 points to pace Uintah, who dropped to 2-9 with the loss. Ella Wright finished with nine points and Maicee Smuin scored six.

Saturday’s win marked the final non-region contest of the season for the Lady Spartans, who have experienced ups and downs during the first half of the season. Before extending their winning streak to three, team suffered three losses in four games.

Playing a variety of schools from upper classifications, Emery has logged a 4-1 record against schools from the 3A classification.

Emery will return to the court on Tuesday with the Region 12 opener at home against the Richfield Wildcats. Tuesday’s game will be the first of two meetings this season between the schools. The Wildcats will enter the game holding the No. 4 ranking in the RPI.
