The Short and Sweet Film Festival is coming to USU Eastern University on January 17 and 18 which is just days before the Utah Sundance Film Festival. This annual event of short films will take place inside the Geary Events Center and is free to the public.

“The Short and Sweet Film Festival has only been running for about three years but in those three years they’ve meant with incredible success and a really great response from the community,” said Special Events Technical Coordinator, Braden Nelsen. “So they’ve broken down the films into two separate categories for the festival itself, narrative and documentary but within those categories we’ve got things like action, comedy, drama, war films, animation – there’s a lot of variety, so whatever you are looking for, you will find it.” All of the short films are just that, short and under 40 minutes long.

Friday evening will kick off at 5:00 pm with a Narrative Block of films entitled, The Most Magnificent Thing, Six Day Back, The Journey, Paper Dreams. The second block of Narrative films with start at 6:00 pm with shorts entitled Charon, Me También, Infinity 7, The Hearing, Ceasefire, The Puppet Master, Alexa, One Hundred and Twenty Seconds, Mother. The evening will end with a Documentary Block of films at 8:00 pm with shows entitled Carrying Tomorrow, Credible Fear and The Difference.

Saturday evening will kick off again at 5:00 pm with a Documentary Block of films entitled Diversity In The Long Gray Line, Shinrin Yoku: The Art of Forest Bathing, A Look in the Mirror.  Another Narrative Block will take place at 6:30 pm with shorts entitled That Thing Between Us, Frank and Mary, Another Round, Killer Date, The Tattooed Heart, Outsider. The evening will close with an Awards Ceremony where trophies will be given to the winners including the Audience Choice Award which is voted by popular vote.
