The Emery Spartans traveled to the Cedar City Invitational, competing against 16 other schools from around the state Friday and Saturday.
Accumulating 200 points throughout the two day event, the Lady Spartans logged a fourth place finish. Cedar City claimed first place after finishing with 309.5 points, topping Uintah’s score of 289. The defending 3A State Champion Carbon Dinos finished third.
The Emery boy’s team ended near the middle of the pack with a 10th place performance as they scored 84.5 points. Layton High School cruised to the top finish with 340 points, followed by Copper Hills and Mountain View.
Hayley Guymon recorded an impressive weekend by finishing first in the 100 yard breast stroke and second in the 200 yard IM. Guymon later teamed with Cambrie Jensen, Kaelee Hooley and Abby Johansen to finish fifth in the 200 yard medley.
Hooley also delivered a top-three finish for the Lady Spartans, ending third in the 40 yard free with a time of 27.08.
Only one meet remains on the schedule ahead of the region championship on Jan. 22 at Carbon. The Spartans will have an opportunity to get familiar with the pool when they join Grand, Richfield and Union for the Last Chance Invitational at the Desert Wave Pool this Saturday.
