The Carbon High School swim team traveled to the Cedar Invitational to compete against 16 other schools from around the state Friday and Saturday.

Topping all 3A schools, the Lady Dinos finished third overall with a final total of 256 points. Cedar protected their home pool with 309 points, defeating second place Uintah’s score of 289. Emery finished fourth as the closest 3A school to Carbon with 200 points.

The Carbon boy’s team gathered 63 points as they finished just outside the the top 10 in 11th. Layton ran away with first place by finishing with 340, followed by Copper Hills and Mountain View.

Kacee Barrett had an outstanding weekend with a first and second place individual finish. Completing the 100 yard free in 59.57, Barrett topped Richfield’s Aubri Kling who ended second with a time of 1:00.16. Barrett later finished second in the 200 yard free.

Barrett continued to add to the weekend as she teamed with Tyrca Jaramillo, Thalyn Lyman and Sofia Crompton for second in the 200 yard free.

Carbon will now shift its focus to the Vernal Invitational on Wednesday, before returning home to host Emery Grand, Richfield and Union on Saturday. Both meets will work as final preparation for the Region Championship on Jan. 23.
