This week’s Carbon County Sheriff weekly update focused on statistics for the past year and Sheriff Jeff Wood wanted to share that information with community members so that they could better understand the workings of his department.

“So here’s some stats for you, so for 2019, just to give you an idea how busy the Sheriff’s Office is, and this was as of about the middle of November, we had 1,750 jail bookings, we wrote a total of 1,600 reports, they responded to 7,406 calls for service and conducted 3,645 traffic stops,” stated Sheriff Wood. Carbon County Sheriff’s Office is responsible for 1,485 square miles of terrain and that ranges from local cities, unincorporated areas, mountains and deserts. In looking at the numbers you can see that the Sheriff’s Office has a lot of area to look after.

“Law enforcement is a challenging profession its more of a calling rather than a job, it takes a special person to do that. At the Sheriff’s Office we believe that we want our employees to be happy to come to work every day. We have a little different culture there then anything that I have ever experience in working in law enforcement before. You know we let our people have a lot of freedom, we let them have a lot of opinions and they have a say in how the Sheriff’s Office runs its not just one person’s vision, it’s the entire department’s vision,” explained Wood. The hard workings of the entire Sheriff’s Office are what keeps our community safe and sound, along with their great working relationship with other local law enforcement agencies.
